episode #7 VENDING MACHINES

In Episode #7, I talk about all of the different vending machines you may find in the wonderful land of the rising sun.

The audio levels on this episode are very shitty! Please excuse the LOUD intro music. My monitor levels weren’t exactly what I was actually recording at!

The “Japanese Phrases of the Week”……

はじめまして hajimemashite (ha-gee-may-mahshe-tay) “it’s nice to meet you”

どいてでぶちゃん doite debu-chan (doy-e-tay deb-bu-chan) “move fat kid!”

As always, if you have any questions or comments, post a comment, or email me at Josh@JoshInJapan.com….

until next time, mata-ne!

  1. Most of the vending machines in the US now offer the 16oz bottles for a $1. Also most gas stations or 7-11’s charge you that much as well. Which seems pretty close to what mentioned for Japan.

I’m sure there are lots places in the US that have cheap vending machines, the only ones I know of are usually in front of WalMarts or in Costco; where you can usually get a can of soda for 35 cents.

Regarding your comment about escalators - I don’t remember about Europe but in South Africa people open the left door, ride up the escalators on the left and of course drive on the left of the road.

    Cheers,

    Hey Josh,

Love your podcast. Learned a lot of stuff about Japan from you. Want to come and visit one day, when I can afford it. Anyway, I don’t want to be too critical, but I would just like to point out that takoyaki is octopus balls not squid balls, I hope this doesn’t offend you or anything. Keep up the good work with the podcasting. I was going to suggest a segment about cell phones and the network and the types of phones and stuff, but I see you already made an episode about cell phones, if there is any questions about cell phones after listening to your podcast, I’ll leave another message.

  3. Justin,

thanks for listening. I do not believe I made that mistake, but if you say you heard it, i might have said it. i try to keep things rolling very quickly so i may have slipped up, but you are the first that has let me know (and many people try to correct me) :) thanks again for listening!
