partial success

Monday, May 30th, 2005 at 10:49 pm

Well, I finally got the blog as I would like it. I still need to work on the buttons up top for the “gallery” and archives, but all in all, it looks like a pretty decent page. Maybe one day I can get some photoshop skills and change the header into a picture of Mt. Fuji like I wanted it. I will say though, this layout is beautiful! All props go to the creator of it, dan cameron!

I’ve been googling my ass off all night trying to fix things and discover new things. Just take a look at my Firefox and Paypal buttons on the side bar. Nifty huh? As for my IE subscribers (which i have none of cause I have no feed established), the screen will be all f’d up! Get firefox, it’ll solve all of your problems. With this site, and with your internet viewing in general.

So, I have had a killer case of bronchitis for over a week now. It’s f’n annoying as hell! Ever since we started cleaning the house, and getting rid of all the mold, it has been hell for me. I can’t sleep for some reason unless I’m on the couch. The wife is enjoying me being downstairs every night. She’s a bed hog! Ok, well enough of my personal disgusting health, I must return to playing The Sims Online while I down my frosty beer that’s waiting for me.
It’s probablly not helping my lungs, but who cares!!!!! Until next time, mata-ne!

weekend almost over

Sunday, May 29th, 2005 at 10:41 pm

Well, it’s Sunday night. I’m listening to bibb and yaz right now and holy shit, the outtro scared the shit out of me! Split shows suck!!! Oh well, I guess I’ll have to deal with it. Anyways, I just finished up my last duty weekend out at the clinic in Yokohama. Let me tell you, how nice it is to not have to stand duty there anymore! It is damn nice!!!!! No more weekends away from the family. No more bugs eating my food. No more cockroaches in my duty room. etc, etc, etc…….

So, I’m still not fully understanding how to edit wordpress. I might need some help with this endevour. I’ve asked for help from various people, but no one has stepped up to the plate yet. I have tried editing some stuff, but nothing is really working. I did change the header, but that’s it so far. Maybe there is something a little more user friendly to help me out because the Wiki for wordpress is just friggin confusing as hell! I might even try to change to another format, but I know that only wordpress can use RSS feeds within the programming. It’s no needed right now, but I’ll end up using them in the future for my planned podcasts. Ok, anyways, until next time…. mata-ne!

progression

Wednesday, May 25th, 2005 at 9:51 pm

I have decided to do a podcast. This was inevitible since that was the main reason I bought this domain, and stated making posts. First thing first though, I HAVE TO LEARN THIS FRIGGIN WORDPRESS BULLSHIT! I found a wiki that’s helping me with plugins. hopefully after reading it in it’s entirety, I’ll be able to make this hum-drum blog look like something that actually has content.

As for the podcast, there is absolutely nothing started yet. I thought I might start out with my wife and do a “life in japan” podcast. I would get her to speak Japanese, and translate whatever I say……which will end up with her actually making fun of me instead of translating. Getting her to actually do it all is another story in itself. I’ll probably end up getting on my knees to beg her to go with me to the basement to do this whole podcasting thing. We’ll just see though, we’ll just see.

long time no type

Thursday, May 19th, 2005 at 9:33 pm

So it’s been a while since I have posted anything. I’m not sure where or how I’ll be taking this blog to places unimaginable. I’m not sure if this will be a daily or almost daily thing, or if I want to go more for entertining content. There have been numerous things that have happened to me recently that might be of some entertainment for others. Let me take you to one of those stories and you can choose for yourself.

Well, one of my friends from the boat had joined up with his girlfriend, and the two of them and my wife and baby and I decided to go out for yakiniku (korean barbeque). Everything was going ok. I was waiting on his girlfriend to start a conversation with my wife in Japanese so we could all relax a bit, but his girlfriend just seemed a little bland to me. Kinda unsocial if I do say so. So we finished eating and decided to take the girls all back to the house, and I was going to take my friend back to the ship to pick up his laptop. We were going to goback to the house and go down to the basement and play our online games while the girls sat upstairs and had their little gossip session. Instead, my friend started complaining about getting a headache (kind of like the line girls pull when they don’t wanna get any). So I said he needed to quit being such a pussy and tough it out. He turned into a bitch, and said no, but he agreed to play some PS2 in the meantime while he had his so-called headache. We got back to the house around 10pm, and offered to let them spend the night so they wouldn’t have to worry about taking the last train out. They were very grateful for that, and started to act a little flirtatious with each other. After that, my wife started to clean up the kitchen a bit. Ususally when a Japanese woman starts to clean the kitchen, it is obligatory and automatic that any other women jump up and start helping. Well, not this guest of ours. That was a big clue right there on what was about to happen next. Once my wife finished, I mentioned that we should fire up the PS2 and get into some games between the 4 of us. Mind you, it was only 1015pm on a Friday night. What happened next just thoughouly pissed me off. My so called friend started complaining that he had a headache and now a stomach ache. I offered him some medicine. He declined. I asked if they were still going to stay here, or if he though it might be better to get back to his home (the ship). He was more than enthusiastic to say he was staying here. So they both popped right up and headed off to bed. 1015pm on a fucking Friday night.

All that we amounted to was a free fucking night stay for them instead of them having to go pay 10,000 yen (about $100). My wife woke up around 9am the next morning, 10am for me and they woke up around 11am. They got 13 free hours at the Josh Love Hotel. they didn’t even offer to go do anything with us that next day. I just told them that they needed to leave because we had errands to go do. So that’s my story, whatcha think?

Hopefully in the coming days I will be able to go through some Word Press tutorials so I can figue out how to make it look not so boring. In the meantime, just sit back and hopefully enjoy the babbling I give you!

at work

Friday, May 13th, 2005 at 10:39 am

So, I’m currently at work and bored off my gourd. People are bothering me and watching over my shoulder as I type. So, anyways……… Well, I haven’t posted in a day or so because I have been totally busy with work! I had to work a 12 hour shift yesterday, and now that it’s Friday, I get to work a normal 9 hour day. I’m actually learning quite a bit about ER ops (well for this ER anyways).

Nothing really significant really has happened since my last post. I haven’t even had the chance to check my email at home.

I have been trying however to hack my ipod using ipod wizard. I’ve been trying to change the graphics on it so I don’t have to see the same boring “do not disconnect” symbol all the time. I did everything as directed in the “how - to” giude, but for some reason, It just won’t transfer the data onto the ipod. When I get more time, I’ll have to investigate it more.

Still haven’t touched my fucking homework. I will most definitely have to finish it this weekend since my T/A expires on the 20th of May, and well, today is the 13th! :( Ok, well, until the next post……. mata-ne!

blog software issues

Tuesday, May 10th, 2005 at 9:35 pm

So………..

I tried telling you all (no one) about the awesome yakitori place we went to last night, but then my damn blog program crapped out on me.

We took the train to Yokosuka-Chuo and went to the famous “sagamiya yakitori” stand. Let me tell you about this place. It is about the filthiest place you could ever imagine eating at. It is a stand that is in the middle of about the dirtiest alley in Yokosuka. Everyone stands up infront of the cart, and just picks what kind of yakitori they want to eat out of the trays on the cart. They have pork heart, pork intestine, liver (unknown origin), CHICKEN, and chicken balls. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking….. “chickens don’t have balls”. Well, this is actually processed chicken meat that is mixed with bread and ginger. It actually tastes like chicken meatloaf if you can imagine that taste. It’s actually quite good! Anyways, all I ate was the plain ‘ol chicken. Damn it was so good! But the cleanliness of this place is something that falls to the wayside of the employees. If this place were in California, it would receive an inspection grade of “J” only because “F” is just too high of a standard for this place to keep!

The yakitori is cooked on a machine instead of the regular grill. They take the skewers and clip them into the machine that takes them around through the grill portion, then into the pan that holds the soy sauce concotion. From there it goes back into another grill portion, and out where the worker puts it on the tray for consumption. The only problem I have with all of this is that there are so many floaties in the sauce container that God only knows what is gonna get on your chicken by the time you get it. Mind you, this is all out in the open, so just wait for the mosquitoes to come out within the next month or so. yummy!!!!! I wouldn’t be all surprised that I got a piece of rat meat once in a while. Honestly though, I don’t care, cause this yakitori is to die for!!!

This is what it looks like in a clean, full service environment…..

Out of all the clean, sanitary restaurants that we have to choose from, who would have guessed that I would prefer the dirtiest place to eat in all of Yokosuka? And let me tell you about the cleanliness of Yokosuka. this place is just filthy! The elevator we took to go from the train station to the yakitori stand was just disgusting. It was like people had pissed all over the walls and floor, and no one had ever cleaned it up in the 15 years of that elevator’s existence. I honestly think that even if there were no US Navy presence here, and it were only a quiet fishing city, this would still be the dirtiest city in Japan! Next time I’ll take a pic so you can fully understand where I’m coming from!

So today was a pretty simple day. Instead of having to go do the daily grind in the ER, I got to help my friend proctor her EMT class’ practical exams. And oh boy, lets just say that being there till 5pm was ridiculous! We were only there that late because there were so many people (I think every student) failed at least one skill station. So once all students had tested out, we had to go back and remediate those who didn’t pass a skill station the first time! I will say that after today, it just proves my feeling that I honestly would not feel safe if the average Navy EMT were to roll up on my doorstep if I had an emergency! That’s really sad to say since I am a Navy EMT, and everyone that I work with is a Navy EMT.

If I work with someone who is an EMT, I have one main expectation of that person. No matter how long this person has either been an EMT, or in the Navy, I expect this person to know the ABC’s of BLS. If not, then that person should be shot on sight! Unfortunately, I have two people that instantly come to mind. Those poor guys. One can only imagine what would happen if they rolled up to a code all by themselves. “Wait, hold off on the airway, let’s check this guy’s blood pressure first to make sure he really isn’t pushing any blood!!!!!” ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

time for bed

Monday, May 9th, 2005 at 3:16 am

Well, eventful day indeed. It is officially Monday morning around 3am, and I am just about to go to bed. I got tomorrow off so I will be able to sleep in until the baby gets up (about 6 hours from now). Got a kick ass new phone……

Paid a bit too much, but hell, it;s a new gadget so I can’t complain too much! :o)

I got the basement all set up for my computing enjoyment. Now all I need to do is finish my last 2 assignments from my math class that has taken 6 months, and I will be all set.

I caught up on all of the podcasts I have missed for the last week. The friggin Croncast keeps me laughing. Someone needs to pick up the slack since Bibb and Yaz’s website is on the fritz. Once they get it back up, I would highly suggest you give it a whirl. You might like it. And if you don’t, you can go suck on the teet of the purple haired cow. Ok, enough rambling on from me. Until tomorrow. Mata-ne!

This is my first endeavour into the infamous would of blogging. I know no one will read the shit I post on here, but it’s quite amuzing to actually finally put my thoughts down into text. Many more post to come (since I spent $60.00 for hosting and all). Let me figure out how all of this works, and I’ll get some cool words to flow.
